Obituary for Sylvia C. Coltin (Polansky)

Sylvia (Polansky) Coltin 94, of Newburyport, MA entered into eternal rest on March 5, 2016. Raised in Malden, Sylvia enjoyed nearly 70 years in Newburyport, where she settled with her beloved husband, Albert, who pre-deceased her in 1968, Sylvia enjoyed life in Newburyport, where life revolved around raising their three sons Michael, Mark and Gary. Sylvia was a dedicated volunteer for Congregation Ahavas Achim for decades, and until recently she served as the financial secretary of the Jewish cemetery in Salisbury for forty years. Sylvia enjoyed her work as a bank head teller, always greeting customers with a warm smile and helpful attitude. Sylvia’s greatest source of enjoyment and pride was her family, including her seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Family historian, animated storyteller, fashionista, bargain-hunter and friendly neighbor, Sylvia was also admired for being a loyal Patriots fan. Sylvia will be deeply missed by her sons and their wives, Michael and Mary, Mark and Louise, and Gary and Debbie; her grandchildren Kate and Christian Callahan, Karianne and Paul MacIntosh, Maribeth Coltin, Laura and Bob Ogden, Jenny Coltin, Alexandra Coltin and Evan Coltin; and great-grandchildren Logan, Gavin, Finnegan, Charlie, Cooper and Grace. Services at Congregation Ahavas Achim 53 ½ Washington St, Newburyport on Tuesday March 8 at 12:30PM. Interment at Newburyport Hebrew Cemetery, Salisbury. Condolence calls may be made at the home of Gary & Deborah Coltin following the interment Tuesday until 8PM, Wednesday and Thursday 2-4 & 7-9PM. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Congregation Ahavas Achim, the Lappin Foundation 29 Congress St. Salem, MA 01970, and Anna Jaques Hospital 25 Highland Ave, Newburyport, MA 01950.
