Obituary for Robert Carlton Blumenthal

Robert C. Blumenthal 91, lifelong resident of Winthrop died at Massachusetts General Hospital on Monday morning March 2.
A graduate of Winthrop High class of 1941, Mr. Blumenthal served in the Army 125th Armored Engineers during WW II. Upon release from the service he attended and graduated from University of Cincinnati. A civil engineer by profession, he was a partner with Bruce Campbell Associates in Boston for many years. He also owned and operated his own engineering consulting firm in Boston. He was a past member of the Winthrop Planning Board and a member of National Highway Safety Committee.
Mr. Blumenthal was the husband of the late Dorothy (Fireman) Blumenthal, beloved father of Diane Blumenthal, the late Gerald Blumenthal & his wife Mary (Capezza) Blumenthal, cherished grandfather of Daniel Blumenthal, devoted companion for 22 years of Olga Andrews and loving brother of the late Roy Blumenthal. Services at the Goldman Funeral Chapel 174 Ferry St. (off Rte 60) Malden on Friday March 6 at 11:00 AM. Condolence calls may be made following the services at his late residence until 4PM. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be donated to the Winthrop Improvement and Historical Society 40 Shirley St. Winthrop, MA 02152, or a charity of one’s choice.
